Careers Advice and Prospects
At Hillview, we pride ourselves on developing our students beyond their qualifications and equipping them for their future after the Sixth Form. We offer them a range of support and opportunities to improve their employability and career prospects. All Sixth Form students at Hillview undertake a work experience placement, which helps them prepare for their future choices and develop the “soft skills” that employers value so greatly. In order to ensure that they choose the most appropriate pathway and seize the best opportunities available to them post-18, we also have a dedicated Careers Adviser on site who works closely with our Sixth Formers. As well as delivering a programme of general sessions, she is also available for one-to-one meetings throughout the year to discuss students’ career possibilities and the best route to achieve their goals. Her work is complemented by that of our Careers Trust adviser, who is very experienced both in UCAS and apprenticeships applications. Our students can also make individual appointment with her to get the appropriate support to fulfil their ambitions.
At Hillview, Sixth Formers also benefit from the expertise, connections and advice of Pathway Careers Training & Mentoring, which is an organisation specialised in supporting young people to realise and fulfil their career potential. They offer skills days, work experience placements and routes into apprenticeship with sought-after employers. This partnership enables our students to acquire a thorough and sophisticated knowledge of the world of work, its requisites and practices.
Finally, we have an extensive alumni network run through Future First. This allows us to keep in touch with past students, who have now established careers in a wide range of fields and can share their experience with and offer exceptional opportunities to current Hillview students.
