Physical Education
Through Physical Education (PE), students will learn how to lead an active and healthy lifestyle. They will have the opportunity to have fun while being healthy and developing new skills in a wide range of activities. We offer an extensive array of extra-curricular activities in which we compete at local and regional levels. These activities include gymnastics, trampolining, rugby, football, netball, badminton, fitness, running, athletics, rounders, tennis, and any other activities that can be incorporated during the week if there are enough participants.
In Year 9 and above, students have the chance to participate in reward trips if they consistently demonstrate strong performance and exhibit the Olympic and Paralympic Values of Personal Excellence, Respect, Friendship, Inspiration, Determination, Courage, and Equality in their PE lessons.
Students also have the option to study the Sports Leadership Level One course in Year 10. This course provides vocational skills and experience in leading activities for younger pupils in our school and the local community, making it an excellent starting point for those interested in pursuing a career in sports.
Through the study of GCSE PE, students will gain a deeper knowledge and understanding of healthy and active lifestyles. They will also develop the skills necessary for pursuing a career in sports or fitness. There will be ample opportunities to enhance performance skills across various sports and compete against peers of similar abilities. We encourage GCSE PE students to engage in extra-curricular sports activities as much as possible.
