Physical Education

Through PE pupils will learn how to lead an active and healthy lifestyle. They will get the opportunity to have fun whilst being healthy and developing new skills in a wide variety of activities. We offer an extensive range of extra-curricular activities in which we compete in local and regional competitions. These include gymnastics, trampolining, rugby, football, netball, badminton, fitness, running, athletics, rounders, tennis and any others that we can fit into the week if there are enough participants.

In Year 9 and above students get the chance to be entered for reward trips if they work consistently well and demonstrate the Olympic and Paralympic Values of Personal Excellence, Respect, Friendship, Inspiration, Determination, Courage and Equality in their PE lessons.

Students may also opt to study the Sports Leadership Level One course in Year 10. This will give them vocational skills and experience of leading activities for younger pupils in our school and in the local community and is a great start if pupils are interested in this as a possible career.

Through the study of GCSE PE students will have a deeper knowledge and understanding of healthy and active lifestyles and will develop an understanding of the skills one may need when pursuing a sports or fitness-related profession. There is plenty of opportunity to develop performance skills in a number of sports and to compete against others of similar abilities. We encourage GCSE PE students to be engaged in extra-curricular sports activities as much as possible.
